School of Social Science Honours Programs

• Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with 1 of the following Fields of Study:
  • Anthropology
  • Archaeology 
  • Criminology
  • Sociology
• Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Honours)
• Bachelor of Social Science (Honours)

Programs in other Faculties where you can complete Honours with the School of Social Science

• Bachelor of Science (Honours) with the following Field of Study:
  • Archaeological Science
• Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) with the following Field of Study:
  • Archaeological Science

Application Steps 

1. Please read through the Important Honours Dates 

Ensure you are aware of all dates and deadlines for your Honours application. Key dates for each step are detailed below, and a summary of all Important Honours Dates can be found on the School of Social Science Honours page.

2. Attend an Honours Information session the year before you would like to commence Honours

An information session for students interested in commencing Honours will be held in September/October the year prior to commencement.

Date: Wednesday 23 September 2026

Time: 9am – 11am

Location: 47A-141 collaborative room - Sir James Foots Building, St Lucia Campus

• Registration is not required.
• The Honours Convenor will speak and present slides, then there will be a Q&A opportunity. 
• The session will not be recorded but slides from the presentation will be available shortly after the session. 
• Please email student.socsci@uq.edu.au if you have any questions or need further information about the session. 

3. Check the Honours Entry Requirements 

Use the following link to check the entry requirements for the program you would like to apply for. If you do not meet the entry requirements, or have questions regarding the entry requirements, please contact the School of Social Science.

4. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Honours 

Expressions of Interest for students who are interested in commencing Honours are due in early November the year prior to commencement. 

AND

5. Submit an online Honours Application via apply.uq.edu.au

Students are expected to complete the online Honours Application process around the same time as submitting their expression of interest, and no later than December the year prior to commencement.

You must submit both an EOI and online Honours Application
