
Robyn James, PhD, is an academic and environmental leader who studies how gender equality connects to climate action and nature conservation. She is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Queensland, where she recently earned her PhD researching ways to break down institutional barriers for women in environmental fields.
Dr James brings over 25 years of hands-on experience across 17 countries, including extensive work in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. She has worked across government and community spaces and most recently served as the Global Director for Gender Equity at The Nature Conservancy. She currently serves on several advisory groups and boards. Her research is widely published in leading scientific journals, highlighting how gender bias holds women back in environmental careers and advocating for practical, fair solutions to global climate challenges.
