Ms Kristi Anderson

Kristi is a PhD candidate, casual academic and senior research assistant in Criminology within the School of Social Science. Her research interests include system responses to sexual, domestic and family violence, the relationship between childhood maltreatment and offending, and the role of trauma-informed responses to impact victim engagement and justice outcomes. Kristi has worked within police organisations in a research and training capacity. Her portfolio included delivering specialist training to investigators of sexual offences, child harm and youth offending, in addition to evaluating a range of police training from recruit driving skills to trauma-informed investigative practice.
Kristi is currently working on an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project, led by Associate Professor Sarah Bennett, entitled ‘Legitimacy and Effective Policing Responses to Domestic and Family Violence (DFV)’ (2024-27). As part of this project, she is conducting doctoral research into how frontline police identify and respond to less 'visible' forms of DFV after the criminalisation of coercive control.
Kristi’s doctoral research is supervised by Associate Professor Sarah Bennett and Dr John Gilmour.
