
Researcher biography
Owen McNamara is a Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of Queensland. Trained as a Political and Environmental Anthropologist, Owen's primary research interests are populism, housing, masculinities and alternative agricultural systems. He is particularly interested in exploring processes of ideological formation as they relate to populist or otherwise illiberal commitments.
Owen has carried out fieldwork in Argentina, Mexico and Spain working alongside Peronist agroecologists, native corn revivalists, and tenants' rights activists.
He is the author of the forthcoming book The Populist Ecosystem: Peronism and Agroecology in Argentina which will be published with the University of North Carolina Press.
