‘Indigenous Resilience in Post-Glacial Northern Australia: A faunal analysis of the Malangangerr shell midden’

This research aims to understand Aboriginal response to the dramatic post-glacial sea level rise following the Last Glacial Maximum in the north of Australia. Indigenous resilience to this broad scale landscape change will be understood through the lens of zooarchaeological analysis of vertebrate and invertebrate remains from the site of Malangangerr. Importantly, this project will produce one of the first high-resolution records of Aboriginal and faunal interactions in the western Arnhem Land region.
