UQ was well represented at the leading global conference on the archaeology of ancient plant use, with staff and students attending and presenting to the 2019 International Workgroup on Palaeoethnobotany in Lecce, Italy from June 2-9 2019. Over 300 scholars participated in the triennial event, with HDR students Anna Florin, Luke Cartwright and Charlie Le Moynes and Assoc. Prof. Andy Fairbairn presenting papers on research into early farming, plant economies and foraging in Australia, Turkey and Africa. With HDR student Anne Dighton and UQ-based SNCF Fellow Andrea Kay also participating in lectures and workshops UQ was very visible at the event.
