Qualifications:

  • BA (Hons) in English Literature from Dhaka University
  • MA in English Literature from Dhaka University
  • Master of Development Studies from BRAC University

Experience:

I have more than fifteen years of professional experience including eleven years as a community development practitioner and four years as a media and communications professional. For the past eight years I have been working at BRAC in Bangladesh in different capacities involving development intervention planning and design, programme and project management, fund mobilisation, research and knowledge management, and strategy development. I have played key roles in the planning and implementation of small to large scale programmes/projects in Bangladesh funded by UKAID, DFAT, CIDA, the World Bank, UNDP, UNDEF and other institutional and corporate donors. Prior to starting my PhD at the University of Queensland I was the head of urban development at BRAC.

My area of expertise includes community organising, women empowerment, addressing violence against women and children, strengthening local governance, civic engagement, and urban development in Bangladesh.
